It’s dark for longer than it’s light, and it’s cold, wet and windy – yet none of these things is going to stop me, or millions of other Britons, from running.
But what should we wear while doing it? This year’s winter fitness apparel uses the very latest in high-tech fabric innovations that are warm, breathable, antibacterial and extremely lightweight.
I picked a few of my favourite pieces for running and cycling and put them to the test.
Nell is wearing: Nike Shield Flash Women¿s Running Jacket £240; Miler Women¿s Running Shirt £17.59; 10cm Rival Women¿s Running Shorts £32, Swift Running Leggings £65; Free 5.0+ Shield Women¿s Running Shoe £90; Thermal Women¿s Running Gloves £25, all from Nike
SHORTS TO BE SEEN IN
I’m not brand-loyal but Nike really do lead the way – this jacket is half high visibility fluro, half reflective material. The high-vis shorts are cute, too – ideal for layering over leggings, which can be a little bit unforgiving.
